Learn Spanish by speaking it, not by studying it
Most people who stall in Spanish do not need more grammar. They need someone to make them talk and correct them on the spot, which is the only thing Agnetia does.
Why Spanish gets easy fast and then stops
Spanish rewards beginners more generously than almost any other language an English speaker can pick. The spelling is regular, the vowels are stable, and a few hundred words plus the present tense already buy a real conversation. That early speed is genuine, and it is also why so many people plateau: the things that come next are not harder to understand, they are harder to produce at speed.
The plateau has a short and predictable list of causes. Ser and estar, which English collapses into one verb and Spanish refuses to. The subjunctive, which is not an advanced decoration but ordinary daily speech. Gender agreement, which has to be right on the article, the adjective and sometimes the participle, all decided in the moment you open your mouth.
None of that is fixed by reading an explanation, because you already understand the explanation. It is fixed by producing the form wrong, being corrected immediately, and producing it again — several hundred times. That is a volume of repetition no weekly class can give you.
What actually gets in the way, and where you drill it
- Verbs
- 300 verbs in the syllabus, asked out loud. Spanish conjugation is not hard to learn and is very hard to reach for at speed, which is a drilling problem, not a study problem.
- Articles and pronouns
- Gender agreement and the object pronouns that English simply does not have. Closed list, own exercise, asked until the agreement stops being a decision.
- Prepositions
- «por» and «para» are the classic pair, but «a» before a person and the verbs that demand a fixed preposition cost English speakers just as much.
- Vocabulary
- 787 concepts in the syllabus, asked in the Vocabulary exercise and reviewed afterwards in silent games. Recognising a word is not knowing it.
What a session looks like
There are no lessons and no syllabus to get through. You hold a button, you speak, and the agent answers in about two seconds — six to seven turns a minute.
You say which language you think in and which you want to speak
All seven languages work as a native language and as a target language, so you pick the pair when you start. The native language can be changed later from your profile; the one you are learning cannot.
Hold to talk, release when you are done
Agnetia listens, corrects your last attempt if it needed correcting, and asks the next question. That is the whole loop, and it does not pause.
You choose what to drill
Seven spoken exercises — Vocabulary, Numbers, Verbs, Prepositions, Articles and pronouns, Conditionals, and Conversation at three levels — plus forty-seven review games, no microphone needed, to fix what already came out right.
Your level updates by itself
Seven dimensions on a 0-100 scale with a CEFR A1-C2 equivalent, revised every three conversation answers. There is no test: it comes out of how you speak.
Frequently asked questions
Which Spanish does it teach?
Standard Spanish. There is no region-specific content for Latin American or peninsular variants, and no dialect material.
Does it correct my pronunciation?
No, and it is worth being blunt about it. Agnetia trains oral production — building the sentence and saying it — but it does not grade your accent or tell you a sound was mispronounced.
Do I need to know some Spanish already?
No. Agnetia estimates your level across seven dimensions with a CEFR A1-C2 equivalent and revises it every three conversation answers, and the question-based exercises start from the most basic material and unlock levels as you master the previous ones. Understanding some of the language is enough; if you are just starting, begin with Vocabulary and Numbers.
Will it prepare me for the DELE?
It does not prepare any specific official exam and there are no mock papers. It trains the speaking that those exams test, not their format.
