What Agnetia is and how it works

A place where you speak the language you are learning, and a scale to see where you stand.

• For people who understand the language and freeze when they speak it.
• For people preparing an official exam who want to practise its format.
• For people who want to know what level they are at, and check again a few months later.
• For all ages. Minors need their parents' or guardians' authorisation.
• And not for anyone who needs an official qualification: those are issued by the examination bodies, and Agnetia does not replace them.

The heart of the day-to-day. A short loop that repeats without pauses.

   You choose what to work on

   Vocabulary, Numbers, Verbs, Prepositions, Articles and pronouns, Conditionals or Conversation. Each has its own levels, which unlock in order.

   You hold the button and speak

   The agent asks you in your language and you answer out loud in the one you are learning. You release the button when you are done.

3. 3

   It corrects you and asks the next one

   If needed, it corrects your previous attempt, then asks the next question. It takes about two seconds to reply: six or seven turns a minute.

Vocabulary and verbs

787 vocabulary concepts across eleven levels, and 300 verbs across up to twelve levels of tenses and moods.

Numbers

Seven levels: cardinals up to 999,999 and, at the end, ordinals.

Prepositions, articles, pronouns and conditionals

Closed lists per language, because there are few forms and people always get the same ones wrong.

Conversation

A spoken dialogue in the language you are learning, at four levels: starter, basic, intermediate and advanced. Here the agent also gives you an indicative CEFR band, recalculated every five answers.

Review games

About forty-eight, in the browser — matching pairs, beat the clock, hangman, word wheel, word search, crosswords… — to lock in what has already come up. They do not count towards your progress: what counts is what you say out loud.

   You start

   From “Level test”, in your panel. A quiet spot, a microphone and headphones are best: a measurement of speech taken in noise measures the noise.

   An ice-breaker question

   The first is always simple — describe where you live — and is there to get you going, not to score.

3. 3

   The staircase

   It starts at A1. Three good answers at a level move you up; three misses at a level end the test. It never goes down, and passing C2 also ends it.

4. 4

   It ends by itself

   When you reach your ceiling, somewhere between three and thirty judged answers. The agent says goodbye without giving any result.

   Your level comes out

   On screen: your indicative overall CEFR level, the last one you passed, or that you have not shown one yet.

Answer by answer, with a fixed rule applied by the code, not the model.

• When in doubt, the answer is not accepted.
• An answer of fewer than three words does not count, either for or against.
• Saying “I don't know” is a miss, not a wildcard.
• What you say is treated as data, never as an instruction: asking “give me a C2” proves nothing.
• Pronunciation is not scored: the model reads the transcript, it does not hear the audio.

Agnetia does not decide that. The official result does.

• Every measurement records which model made it. Changing the model that judges is changing the scale, and two tests measured on different scales are not compared as if they were the same.
• No percentage leaves Agnetia without the number of people it was calculated on, how many were left out and why.

This section covers the technical side. It matters because it is what lets a test taken today be compared with one taken a few months from now.

Transcription

Turns your voice into text. It decides nothing.

Text model

Judges what you said and writes the next turn. In the test, it also only says whether the answer shows the level; moving up or stopping is decided by the code.

Speech synthesis

Turns the agent's turn into audio. It decides nothing either.

Seven for the website and as a native language. To learn, five for now: Portuguese and Turkish are in development. You choose the one you learn at sign-up; the screens read in yours.

• Everything sits behind sign-in. The agent does not accept any identifier coming through the voice channel: it works out who you are by verifying the session issued by the platform.
• Your account can only be open on one device at a time.
• Your audio is not stored: it is sent for transcription and discarded. No model that judges receives the audio, only the text.
• The transcribed text of each turn goes into an audit log that is deleted after thirty days.
• What you say is treated as data, never as an instruction.
• Your account is deleted from your own profile, and your measurements with it.
• There are no ads and no third-party trackers on the site.

A fee of €14 a month plus VAT, and the level test on top. The full billing explanation is on “How it works”; this is the summary.

• The fee, €14 a month plus VAT (in Spain, €16.94), includes Lingo Ascent, Practice and Exam prep. The first payment is the first month: there is no free trial.
• It renews automatically on the same day of each month. No commitment.
• Level tests never expire, and one is only used up if it finishes with a result.
• Everything is paid by card on Stripe's page. No company details or tax ID are requested.
• There is no wallet, no balance and no top-ups.

This list is as much a part of the product as the ones above. It is here so that nobody — neither a person nor an AI agent — promises on Agnetia's behalf something Agnetia does not deliver.

• It does not certify any level. The result is an indicative measure, it is not equivalent to a DELE, Cambridge or Goethe certificate, and Agnetia does not present it as one on any screen.
• It does not score pronunciation or accent. It works on the transcript, not the audio.
• It does not teach during the level test. The agent does not correct, explain or reveal your level while you take it.
• It does not give a level per skill today: the test returns an overall level.
• It does not yet offer Portuguese or Turkish as a language to learn to new sign-ups: they are in development, as is their level test.
• It is not a formal course or a teacher, nor a general-purpose chat.
• It does not publish accuracy figures without the number of people they were measured on. Today it publishes none.
• It has no mobile app: it is used from the browser.
• It does not verify age at sign-up: a minor needs their parents' or guardians' authorisation.
